Programs

What are the group sizes and teacher-student ratio?

In 2024 the 3 y.o program will have a limit of 22 children, with two teachers. The 4 y.o long day program will have a limit of 26 children attending on each day with 3 teachers. Staff to child ratios are 1:11.

Each group of children at the Eltham Woods Preschool has one Bachelor of Early Childhood Qualified Teacher and one Certificate III Qualified Educator. Our long day groups of 26 children also has one extra Diploma Qualified Educator.

Does EWPS provide an extended care program?

EWPS currently offers our Extended Care Program two afternoons a week on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4pm to 5:30pm.

Does EWPS offer a long-day 4-year-old program?

EWPS currently offers three different long-day 4-year-old programs (7.5hrs per day) across two days. Options include Mondays and Tuesdays, Mondays and Thursdays or Tuesdays and Thursdays. This will also continue in 2025.

 

 

Enrolment

How do I enrol for 3-year-old preschool with EWPS?

All enrolments for Eltham Woods pre-school are completed through Nillumbik Council.

How do I enrol for 4-year-old preschool with EWPS?

You can register with Nillumbik Shire Council two years prior to your child’s start date. All enrolments for 4-year-old preschool are managed through the Council.

Fees

Are there any fees?

There are no fees for 3-year-old preschool or 4-year-old preschool. At present, the Extended Care Program costs $25 per 1.5 hour session. Fees are reviewed every year.

Is there a maintenance levy?

No, there is currently no annual maintenance levy.

Is a deposit required for enrolment?

No, there is no deposit

What is the EWPS policy on fundraising?

EWPS regularly runs fundraising activities involving the whole preschool, but participation is optional.
