What are the group sizes and teacher-student ratio?

Currently, the 3yo program and 4yo short day program have a limit of 22 children, whilst the 4yo long day program has a limit of 27 children. Staff to child ratios are 1:11. Each group of children at the Eltham Woods Preschool has one Bachelor of Early Childhood Qualified Teacher and one Certificate 111 Qualified Educator. Our Platypus long day group of 27 children also has one extra Diploma Qualified Educator.

Does EWPS provide an extended care program?

EWPS currently offers our Extended Care Program two afternoons a week on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4pm to 5:30pm.

How do I enrol for 3-year-old preschool with EWPS?

Currently you can enrol directly through EWPS for 3-year-old preschool. 2021 enrolments will be through Nillumbik Council.

How do I enrol for 4-year-old preschool with EWPS?

You can register with Nillumbik Shire Council two years prior to your child’s start date. All enrolments for 4-year-old preschool are managed through the Council.


What are the fees?

The fees for 3-year-old preschool are $415 per term. Fees for 4-year-old preschool are $465 per term. The Extended Care Program costs $25 per 1.5 hour session. Fees are reviewed every year.

Is there a maintenance levy?

There is an annual maintenance levy of $50 payable once per family and is non-refundable.

Is a deposit required for enrolment?

Once you have been offered a place, you must pay a deposit of $100 for the 3-year-old program and $150 for the 4-year-old program, which is deducted from your term 4 invoice.  The Extended Care Program requires payment of term 4 fees as the deposit and these are credited in term 4.


What is the EWPS policy on fundraising?

EWPS regularly runs fundraising activities involving the whole preschool, but participation is optional.
