Committee

Eltham Woods Preschool is an independent stand-alone service. A Committee of Management runs the preschool.  The Committee consists of 12 volunteers who are all parents of children attending one of our programs. Each year, during the Annual General Meeting in November, parents elect the new members. The Committee meet once a month and oversee the running of the centre, staffing, marketing, social events, maintenance and enrolling of new children.

Becoming a Committee member – a rewarding experience!

Everyone can get involved, no matter your experience, time or skills. Apart from the defined roles we always need some extraordinary members who can help where needed to lighten the load of the regular members or to take on extra jobs. It is a rewarding experience to be a member of the Parents Committee. First of all, it enables you to be more involved in your child’s early education and gives you direct input into the decision-making of the centre. Furthermore, it is also a great way to meet other parents and make new friends.  Besides the social aspects of your involvement, you may also gain or strengthen experience and skills in a range of areas including:

  • Effective staff management
  • Budgeting/financial management
  • Negotiation
  • Communication
  • Employment law
  • Organising events
  • Community engagement
  • Marketing
